Aug.   8, 2013 to Aug. 20, 2013
$8,504.00 per person
Single Supplement - US $1,450.00

Day 1
Your safari begins on arrival in Lusaka by a representative from Wilderness Safaris upon clearing immigration and customs. From Lusaka the group will be taken about 100 km to the border crossing of Chirundu on the banks of the Zambezi river. Once we clear immigration we will be taken by boat through several game reserves to Ruckomechi Camp. The river almost always provides excellent photo ops on the way into camp.

All of our game drives in Zimbabwe are in open vehicles and we are allowing each guest an entire row to maximize their personal photographic opportunity. While Harriet's style would be to spend all day out in the bush, schedules are flexible to allow our guests the option of a leisurely midday in camp.

We will be welcomed by the camp staff , shown to your rooms, have a relaxing dinner and talk about our new adventure.

This lodge includes all meals, drinks excluding premium brands, laundry and camp activities.

African Camp

Day 1 to 4 (4 nights)

Ruckomechi Camp
lies in the Mana Pools National Park, on the banks of the Zambezi river, shaded by a large grove of acacia and mahogany trees,  with a superb of Africa's Great Rift Valley mountains across the river in Zambia.  The predators of Ruckomechi include Lion, Wild Dog, Leopard, and Cheetah;  and large concentrations of Buffalo can be found along the river's edges. Kudu, Zebra, Impala and Waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains.

Elephants often  swim in front of the camp in order to get to the reed island directly opposite camp and they also like to take advantage of the plentiful Albida trees in the area.  Birdlife is superb, particularly for both mopane woodland and riverine species with numerous local specials like Collared Palm-Thrush, Racket-tailed Roller, Purple-banded Sunbird and Black-throated Wattle-Eyes.

Ruckomechi Camp accommodates guests in ten spacious en-suite tented units, including a honeymoon suite, all of which overlook the Zambezi River. Each tent has both indoor and outdoor showers, and the camp boasts a favorite among guests: its outdoor 'bath-with-a-view' in a secluded, scenic spot. The central dining, bar, library and lounge areas face the escarpment and are connected to the rest of the camp by low-level walkways that minimize our environmental impact. There is a separate deck with infinity pool for swimming and sun bathing, and an inviting, cushion-strewn star gazing deck.

Day 5
This morning we will take an early morning game drive, return to camp to collect our luggage have lunch and fly from Ruckomechi Camp to Hwange where Little Makalolo Camp is located (approximately 2.5 hours).

Upon arrival at Little Makalolo we will be welcomed by the camp staff, escorted to our rooms, have lunch and prepare for our afternoon safari.

This lodge includes all meals, drinks excluding premium brands, laundry and camp activities.

African Camp

Day 5 to 8 (4 nights)
Little Makalolo
overlooks a vibrant waterhole in the heart of Hwange National Park. The area's large number of waterholes attracts game especially in the winter months when Hwange is literally home to a Noah's Ark parade of animals as they come down to quench their thirst.

Makalolo is one of the best areas for seeing impressive herds of buffalo and elephant as well as apex predators such as lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah. Other general game is very abundant in the Park.  Bird life in the area is prolific (400+) and varied.

The camp's six rooms have en-suite facilities, with both indoor and outdoor showers. The living areas include a dining room, lounge, plunge pool and an open fire area.  There is a log pile hide overlooking the waterhole in front of camp.

Upon arrival at Imbabala we will be welcomed by the camp staff, escorted to our rooms, have lunch and prepare for our afternoon safari.

This lodge includes all meals, drinks served on safari only, night drives and camp activities.

Day 9 to 12 (4 nights)
Imbabala Safari Lodge is situated on a riverine fringe of the mighty Zambezi River where Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia converge. Imbabala has some of the most amazing game viewing and bird watching in the region.  The 5,000 acre concession has 14 kilometers of private Zambezi river frontage and borders the Chobe Forest Reserve, which is renowned for its massive Elephant population.  Herds of up to 1500 elephants have been seen on the floodplains below the Lodge.

Game drives often provide fantastic sightings including lion, wild  dog, elephant, giraffe and kudu. The area has approximately 420 bird species sighted making it an exciting venue for birders.

The Imbabala main lodge is a charming thatched structure, consisting of a lounge, dining room and bar area. This offers fantastic views of both the river and a nearby waterhole, which attracts game throughout the year.  A swimming pool and al fresco eating area nestle under ancient trees. There are no fences to prevent animal movement, so expect to see game and wonderful birdlife along the river bank as well as in and around the Lodge.

Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge offers exclusive accommodation for only 18 guests in 8 individual stone and thatch lodges with en-suite facilities. Each lodge is beautifully positioned with spacious verandas opening onto sweeping views of the Zambezi River.

Day trips to Victoria Falls are also offered. (additional charge applicable).

Day 13
This morning we will take a morning bush drive prior to our departure from Imbabala to Kasane International (approximately 30 minutes) and make our connecting flights to our individual destinations.
