Lots Of Mouths To Feed-a

At 220 to 350 lbs and 7 to 9 ft tall, the flightless ostrich is the world's largest bird; and at 2 inches across, the ostrich also has the largest eye of any land animal.  They roam African savanna and desert lands and get most of their water from the plants , roots,  and seeds they eat.  Though they cannot fly, ostriches are  strong runners. They can sprint over 40 miles an hour and run 20-30 minutes at 30 miles an hour. An ostrich's powerful, long legs can cover 15 feet in a single stride. These legs can also be formidable weapons. An ostrich kick can kill a man or  a lion. Each two-toed foot has a long, sharp claw.

Ostriches are  true dinosaurs, with skeletons and fossils having been found which date back over 120 million years.
