Sable

South Africa, Kruger National Park, extraordinary, iconic and  steeped in legend and history; with vast landscapes, multiple eco-zones,  and spectacular African wildlife.   The sable is one of the most impressive antelopes found in southern Africa. Because of habitat destruction and poaching, it is also one of the most endangered. Both males and females have these impressive ringed horns that rise vertically and curve backwards. Here we also have a red-billed oxpecker on the sable's body searching for  parasites.  This setting is their typical habitat.
