The Chase

This picture has 4 cheetah siblings running for their life as a pride of lions discovered them and starts a chase after the cheetahs, hoping to get one of them. Can you imagine the adrenalin rush as the cheetahs are running right at the camera, only to veer off a few feet away? This coalition of male cheetahs needs their speed to escape the lion pride.
Every part of the African cheetah's body is built to maximize its speed. This big cat can sprint at 70 mph. It uses its tail as a counter balance when running which allows it to zigzag as they run like the gazelles that they often hunt, or when they are the hunted.

Phinda Game Reserve is situated in the lush Maputaland region in northern KwaZulu-Natal bordering the World Heritage Site -- The  Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park.  Scenic Rivers, floodplains and open pans make up the bulk of seven distinct habitats found in the Phinda Reserve.   Phinda is possibly the best cheetah viewing anywhere.
